This year, Papers, Please is one of the most interesting and well-liked games of the summer. You are the captain of a cruise ship that is cruising to India on a whim. Your first order of business is to build the port, where all the ships are to dock, but you must make sure that the ships comply with the rules of the country you are in. If they do not, you could lose your license to dock at the port!
Papers, Please is an ingenious little game, thanks to its elegant writing, incredible art and the simple yet clever interface of the Mac version. Basically, you control your whole civilization, but you do not have to. The help files and in-game instructions explain all you need to know about the controls. The goal is to get your passengers to obey the rules of the city you are in. At the same time, you also need to get them off, as well. This is where the trouble begins. You do not have a lot of options here.
But don't worry, you don't need to be good at programming to play Papers, Please. There is a free version of the game for Macs that you can download. While you are playing, you can log into your account and make use of all the great features and functions available. You can plan your routes, see the currents, receive a little bit of advice, learn about the society and you can even add some graphics. And if you get stuck or would like to look for an alternative solution, the built-in options menu has a search option that will let you easily find what you are looking for. A very impressive list of features that are provided for free. They have put a lot of work into creating such a game for the Mac.
